Terms of use

Plain-English terms. The two that matter most: our guides are general information, not advice about your specific house; and firms you engage are contracting with you, not with us.

Information, not advice

Everything published on Restumping Help is general information for Australian homeowners. It is not structural, legal or financial advice about your property. Houses differ; soil differs street by street. Decisions about structural work should rest on inspection and advice from licensed practitioners or structural engineers who have seen your house.

The referral service

When you submit a quote request or unlock a firm's contact details, we pass your enquiry to matched firms, which pay us a referral fee. We take reasonable steps to list only licensed firms and we remove firms that attract substantiated complaints, but we do not supervise their work, guarantee their quotes, or act as a party to any contract between you and them. Your agreement for any work is with the firm alone, on the firm's terms.

No guarantee of coverage

Matching depends on firms servicing your area and having capacity. We don't guarantee a minimum number of quotes, response times, or that any firm will take a job.

Accuracy and currency

Cost ranges, regulations and other facts are reviewed on the dates shown on each page and can be outdated by market or legislative change between reviews. Where state rules are discussed, verify current requirements with the regulator linked on the page.

Acceptable use

Don't scrape the directory, submit fake enquiries, or misrepresent yourself to firms through this site. Firms found gaming listings or misusing homeowner details are removed.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law (including the Australian Consumer Law, which this section doesn't exclude), we're not liable for loss arising from reliance on general information on this site or from the acts of firms you engage. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be limited.

Changes

We update these terms as the service evolves; the effective date above changes when we do. Continued use after a change is acceptance of the current version.
